Bill is the long standing Pipe
Major of the 78th Fraser Highlanders from Ontario, Canada. The first
non-Scottish band ever to win the World Pipe Band Championships, they
have travelled 16 times to the Worlds and made the top 6 on 12
ocassions, an outstanding record all under Bill's leadership. He has
also won countless solo piping awards, notably both Gold Medals and the
coveted Clasp at the Northern Meeting twice.
The evening will consist of two halves. The first will be an open forum
of questions and answers. Those attending will be able to hear Bill
talk about any topic they wish, as well as hear about his own
background and journey to become the outstanding player he is today. Amongst
suggested topics have been: How best to set up a band; What is
the future of pipe bands; What is it like as a band and solo player
from another country, to play in Scotland?
The second half will be a recital giving us a rare opportunity to hear
one of the world's most successful pipers in the heart of this
sprawling metropolis.
This promises to be a unique evening and a great way to warm-up to the
Bratach Gorm. Any suggestions for further questions for Bill, email in
advance to alasdairthepiper@hotmail.com
Tickets #10 SPSL Members / #12.50 non-members. 7.30 start. Tickets
