We are pleased to announce that the 2009 Scottish Piping Society of London's Member's Competition will again be sponsored by the internationally renowned Lochcarron company and their London branch, Savile Row Kilts, kilt purveyors to: Ewan McGregor, Sir Sean Connery, Samuel L. Jackson and Liam Neeson, among others.

Murray Henderson will be flying down from Scotland to do the judging, and after the competition is over, we'll be having a recital from the man himself that will be going on well into the evening. Murray has been a great supporter of the annual London Competition, having won the prestigious Bratach Gorm 5 times, the Gillies Cup 3 times and the MSR 5 times. Apart from his successes in London, Murray can also include the following trophies to his list;

Gold Medals at Oban  and Inverness
Six Clasps to the Medal at Inverness
The Open at Oban
The Dunvegan Medal & Two Clasps
Five Silver Chanters [Dunvegan Castle]
The Marches, Strathspeys & Reels at Oban and Inverness
Glenfiddich Championship four times

The 2009 Lochcarron Savile Row SPSL Member's Competition

 Saturday 18th April 2009                         Admission  Free

 London Scottish Regiment Drill Hall, 95 Horseferry Rd, London SW1P 2DX

This historic annual competition for SPSL members has run since shortly after the society was established.  We are hopeful of a great turnout for this competition. Many competitors see it as a warm up for the forthcoming solo piping season. It is certainly well positioned in April and we are privileged this year to have an exceptional piper and respected judge to be our senior adjudicator for the day, that is Murray Henderson.

Entries “on the field” as they say – that means on the day but emailing in advance to notify that you are attending would be very much appreciated. Competitors must report to Admissions before 9.45 a.m. at the venue.

Competition commences 10.00 a.m.  Entry Fee : £10 total for all open & amateur comps. Juveniles no charge.

 All competitors will play tunes of their OWN CHOICE. Any competitors who have previously played in any open competition are barred from Amateur events. Any questions about the competition please address them to the SPSL piping coordinator Alasdair Smith.

If you are unsure whether to compete give Alasdair a ring 07930 451084 or drop him an email alasdairthepiper@hotmail.com

If you want to compete and are not a member come and join the SPSL on the day.

The more entrants, the greater the fun, the better the event.
