The next SPSL Piper's Club at the Mudlark will be on Saturday the 11th of September.

This night will be the 3rd Annual Jim Caution Memorial Recital, and we are very pleased to announce the return of one of the world's greatest pipers, Pipe Major Gordon Walker. Gordon is really on the top of his game at the moment, during his visit to Skye on August 3rd he won the Silver Chanter, the 2/4 March, the Strathspey and Reel and the Jig competitions. He also lifted the Clasp. In fact the only event he didn't win was the 6/8 March, where he came second to Willie McCallum. As we all know, Gordon is also a great entertainer as well as a great piper. You'd be daft not to miss this night. Please click here or on the picture below for more details.

Tuition with the SPSL

SPSL Piping Tuition Evening Classes 2009/2010

These will running fortnightly at Charlotte Sharman School, St Georges Rd, West Square, London SE11 4SN

These are small group classes not individual tuition. This format doesn't suit everyone but we have just completed our first year of offering these classes and on the whole they have been successful and many students seem happy with the format and value.

Anyone planning to go attend for the first time should notify Alasdair in advance.

Dates:

New Dates to be announced soon

Absolute Beginners - Tutor - Alan Dunsmore

Beginners - Tutor - Hugh Jamieson

Improvers - Tutor - Alasdair Smith

Classes are about 90 mins long.

All classes will commence at 6.30 p.m.

Advanced students: We have no provision for intermediate or more advanced students at this time.

Transition to pipes
: There are no concrete plans for a class yet but SPSL is well aware of the need and Alasdair and Hugh will come up with a definite plan around this by the end of September.

Cost: Classes are £10. Students must be members of SPSL which is a £20 annual fee. If you attend for the first time your lesson will be free so you are able to make a judgement about whether you can get what you need from the classes. Those joining the classes in Sept 2009 should qualify for membership for 2010.

Christmas Presents: Last year I was contacted by a number of people keen to purchase some bagpipe lessons for someone else as a present. If I am contacted by early December and agreement reached about what you may wish to purchase, and monies paid to the SPSL, then I am happy to write a letter confirming the details of the present without cost details so it can be given to on Christmas Day.

Any questions?: Please contact Alasdair with any questions or ideas about how we can improve or develop the classes.
